One Day in Miami (Brickell & Coconut Grove)

Who spends a day in Miami, right? It is a city of sun, sand and fun. Well when your (former) job has you in and out of the city in one day, you make the most of it. (Note: we will talk about my job transition in a future post.) Miami is a large city with so many eclectic and unique neighborhoods. Each is unique and has something to offer, but in this post I am going to focus on Brickell and Coconut Grove.

There is lots to do in those two areas. But since I was on a business trip, I am going to focus on the food I ate in a day. From breakfast to late night cocktails, I am highlighting some establishments worthy of bookmarking for your next trip to the 305. Read on to find out more!

Honey Uninhibited

Start your day with a vibey breakfast (or brunch) in Brickell. Honey Uninhibited serves Southern inspired dishes made with fresh ingredients served with a side of music and art. I normally don’t go for a sweet entrΓ©e, but couldn’t resist the Frenh Toast. Not only did it look stunning, but it wasn’t heavy on the sugar at all. I devoured every bite of brioche, custard, and fresh fruit while the table next to me turned up on mimosas. I admit I had a little FOMO (fear of missing out) since I was on a work trip, but I’ve put this place on my return list.

Sapore di Mare

You should walk off your breakfast by heading over to Coconut Grove. After walking through the parks and shops in The Grove, you are sure to work up an appetite. There is no shortage of restaurants in the neighborhood, but Sapore di Mare is one you don’t want to overlook.

I came here on a recommendation from another foodie friend. It’s a quaint quaint restaurant dishing out Italian cuisine. My friend mentioned something about cacio e pepe tossed in a parmesan wheel. I didn’t see it on the menu, but I had to take my chances. Turns out this is an off the menu item offered for both lunch and dinner. I got it with the truffles and I must say it was totally worth it! The soup of the day, zucchini with scallops (pictured above), was also amazing.

Jaguar

Let’s stay in Coconut Grove for dinner. My friend, PR extraordinaire, and former Miami resident told me that I just had to get ceviche from Jaguar. Naturally, I listened. I dined on fab Latin American food while vibing out to the live music they had on their sidewalk patio. The cocktails were also on point, and I was obsessed with the merken sauce that came with the Churrasco Argentino.

Balan’s

Miami is known for its late night scene, but if you are looking for something a little more low-key, I got you. Make your way back over to Brickell and check out Balan’s. It is a chic European restaurant open til 1am or 2am depending on the day. They have a garden area and a terrace, but I sat at the bar. They had a dj spinning mellow house grooves which was the perfect setting as I sipped my espresso martinis. Coffee as a night cap sounds weird, but they make a damn good one. If the espresso martinis give you a second wind, walk on down to Sweet Caroline’s for some karaoke fun. The people watching there is top notch!

I am always going on random adventures whether for work or play. The best way to keep up with me is by following me on Instagram and joining the BBV Community!
