3 Atlanta Events to Look Forward to in March

Warmer weather in Atlanta means the kickoff of Spring festivals in the city. There is not a shortage of events happening here in the month of March. You could attend an event every weekend, if you wanted to. With so many options, it can be hard to choose where to spend your time and money. But I can help you out with that. After taking a look at the month’s festival and event line up, I have narrowed down the list.

There are a variety of things I consider when determining what events or festivals I want to attend. The first thing I look into is what is actually included in my ticket cost. How long will the event be? Are food and/or drinks included? I want to make sure I am getting my money’s worth. The event location and set up is important as well. I don’t want to be in a space that may be overcrowded to the point where I can’t fully take advantage of my ticket perks. If it is an event I have not been to before then I go to social media for intel. I go to the event’s tagged posts to see what people are saying about the event and to get an idea of the overall experience. An added benefit is if the event supports a great cause, local businesses, etc. But overall, I want to make sure I will have fun!

Taking all of that into consideration, I have found 3 events happening in March that I am really looking forward to. Read on to learn what the events are and why they excite me. I hope to see you there!

2022 Lady Locavores Awardees by Jenna Shae Photojournalism

Lady Locavores is the signature event hosted by Community Farmer’s Market (CFM). CFM is a nonprofit organization that works to support local farmers, provide access to local food for all, and create safe spaces for all. Lady Locavores falls right in line with their mission. This event is being held on International Women’s Day to celebrate womxn in the local Atlanta food movement. Proceeds from the event support the CFM educational chef program.

There are two ticket options available. General admission is $50 per person plus sales tax and fees. For just a bit more, you can receive two tickets, your name in the program, and access to the awards ceremony and VIP reception that takes place an hour prior to the main event. The celebration honors the Lady Locavores award recipients and is the opportunity to sample food and drinks from womxn chefs and mixologists from around the city. And what’s a celebration without a DJ? There will be a dance party for the last 2 hours of the event.

Can’t attend but want to support? Feel free to make a donation!

The 20th annual Oakhurst Wine Crawl is happening this March in the wonderful Oakhurst Village. This is a 21+ event hosted by the Decatur Arts Alliance. The Alliance brings a full-spectrum arts experience to the community every day all freely available to the public. Proceeds from the wine crawl support these community events, Oakhurst Porchfest, and public art.

Early bird tickets are available through March 1st. If you purchase after that time, the price will increase by ten bucks to $50 per person. Tickets will also be available at the check-in tent in Harmony Park, but it is cash only. Your ticket gets you entry into the event where you will receive a souvenir glass and can sip 100+ wines. Also, a little birdie told me there will be a DJ on site. Because what is a Decatur wine event without some dancing? If you’ve been to the Decatur Wine Festival then I know you know!

Don’t forget to bring you ID because they will be checking to confirm you are of legal drinking age. Public transportation and rideshare is strongly encouraged. After the dinner, they encourage you to enjoy dinner at one of the many nearby restaurants.

Heritage Fire Tour Atlanta 2022 by Blasian Bon Vivant LLC

Heritage Fire Tour will be back in Atlanta in late March for another memorable outdoor culinary experience. If you couldn’t guess from the name, this is a live-fire celebration. Local chefs will be flexing their skills by preparing diverse bites with products from locally sourced farms and sponsors that are prepared over an open flame. The crowd will be encouraged to vote for the “Best Bite of the Day” so a Heritage Hero can be announced at the end of the event.

Early Bird General Admission tickets are $99 and get you entry into the event at 4:45pm. However, if you upgrade to VIP tickets ($150) then that grants you early access at 4:00pm. All tickets are all inclusive which means unlimited food and free-flowing drinks. There will be entertainment on site to make it a real celebration. There is limited parking at Guardian Works so rideshare is highly encouraged.

Heritage Fire Tour takes place in 14 cities across the country throughout the year. The tour celebrates heritage breed livestock and heirloom produce that is sustainably sourced. The event also makes a considerable effort to reduce their carbon footprint. And I really appreciate that any leftover food that is suitable for donation is given to a local community kitchen to feed the homeless.
