Six years ago this summer, I sold most of my belongings, packed up my car with my dogs and left Atlanta for Los Angeles. If you would have asked me how I felt about Atlanta, my answer would be much different than it is today. I would have said that the city and I have drifted apart and it was time for us to go our separate ways.
In July 2013, I headed for the West Coast to start a new chapter in my life … with no intention of ever coming back to the A. Little did I know I would miss the culture and people of the city, and that circumstances would align to bring me back to the place I now love to call home.
I have been back in ATL for about 3.5 years now (collectively have lived here for 9.5 years). It is the longest I have ever lived in any city and I love being able to call this city my home. I have made so many genuine friendships and memories during my time here, and for that I look forward to many more!
I am an ATL transplant working towards my ATLien status. (How many years in the city gives you that status anyways??). I don’t know what my future holds but there is one thing that is certain….in the words of Lil Scrappy, “Forever I Love Atlanta” (F.I.L.A).
