Homemade Holiday Goodie Gifts

There is something about the holidays that makes me want to bake and make sweet treats. I don’t know what it is. If you know me, you know that I am actually not a big fan of sweets myself. However, when the holidays roll around I love to get in the kitchen and try new, fun recipes. My friends benefit from this because I package them up and gift it to them.

I really do enjoy being in the kitchen so being able to share my creations with others is one way to express my gratitude and love. Baked goods make great gifts for your dog sitter, fitness instructors (it’s okay to “cheat” every once in awhile… it’s called balance), teachers… anyone really! It’s hard to go wrong with tasty treats.

You don’t have to go overboard and bake dozens of different types of goodies. I think the key is having 2-4 recipes to offer a nice variety. The recipes don’t have to be complicated. I mean, who doesn’t love a good ol’ chocolate chip cookie? With festive packaging your goodies will out a smile on the receiver’s face.

I will share my secret with you. I don’t spend a lot of money on the packaging. Dollar stores are your friend. Each year I find great holiday cookie boxes, buckets and treat bags at my local Dollar Tree. They are adorable, durable and most importantly, affordable! You can find some real gems at the dollar stores.

Like I said before, I like to switch my recipes up each year. I don’t want to give my friends the same goodies year after year. Although, I really don’t think they would mind. Below are links to the 4 sweet treats I gifted this year. And if baking makes you nervous, you’ll be happy to know that 2 of them require zero baking!

Snickerdoodle Blondies I kicked some of them up a notch by drizzling them with a homemade salted caramel.
Brown Butter & Toffee Chocolate Chip Cookies
Christmas Crack – no baking required!
Muddy Buddys – I added Cheerios along with the Chex cereals and tossed in peanut butter and milk chocolate M&Ms at the end to make it festive!

Christmas is just 2 days away, but it isn’t too late to get in the kitchen to whip up some goodies! They make great host/hostess gifts. Show up with sweet treats and a bottle of wine and you will win them over. Plus their tummies will thank you!
